About Us
Tiny Toes and Tails Rattery is a small, closed rattery near Spartanburg SC. Our focus is breeding healthy, friendly rats, raised in a home-style setting. Our goal is to bring the best out in our lovable and friendly pet quality companions. The rats we breed live fulfilling lives together, in large cages designed to help satisfy their natural instincts. All babies born to our rattery are raised in enriching environments. Special attention is given to ensure we provide for all their mental, as well as physical needs.
*All of our babies are sold strictly as pets only, we do NOT provide feeder rats, thank you for your understanding.
*Our babies' physical and mental health is our first priority. For this reason, we do not home our babies before seven weeks of age.
*We home our babies two or more at a time, with exceptions only made for certain circumstances. We do not condone lone rats as it does not meet their needs.
So, I would like to address a matter that is circulating in the rat community. Rat Bite Fever, (RBF) is a zoonotic disease that rats can carry. Ok, if we're being fair, lots of small animals can carry this disease. This disease is not new, however, access to testing for rats, (and other small animals) has not always been available. Thankfully two labs have made Rattery testing available. I'd like to encourage everyone to do their own research on zoonotic diseases. That being said, here's where we are with Tiny Toes and Tails Rattery. Yes, we have tested for RBF, HANT, LCMV, SEND, and SDAV (not zoonotic, but serious among rats). So, what does this mean? This means that we have tested every rat we have at our Rattery. This means that based on the lab results we were given by Charles River Lab, and/or Research Associates Laboratory, we are only breeding and housing negative rats within our rattery. With each litter, I will post Mom and Dad's negative RBF results for those interested. Our Rattery was tested as a whole for all other diseases, so I will post Rattery results as a whole upon request.
